JD Power Asia Pacific 2013 India IQS (Initial Quality StudySM) has placed 3 of Toyota Motors premium models at the top most positions in their individual segments for their supreme quality. These vehicles are Toyota Innova, Toyota Corolla Altis and Toyota Fortuner and they have been ranked as number in MUV, Sedan and SUV segments respectively.
Toyota Innova has claimed the first position for the 7th consecutive time while it is the second consecutive achievement for Toyota Fortuner, Corolla Altis has made a grand entry in the top league this year. Innova has bagged a score of 110 PP 100 against 140 PP 100 (industry average). The Fortuner scored 53 PP 100 which is 8 points up as compared to the last year against an average of 131 PP 100. Corolla Altis managed to score 45 PP 100 against an average of 57 PP 100.
This quality has been analyzing the standards of the vehicles since past 17 years. It is responsible for evaluating the car owner’s experience with the vehicle within 2 to 6 months of ownership. The committee examines over 200 problems, in order of the frequency of their occurrence, in 8 different car categories. All these problems are summarized as PP 100 i.e. problems per 100 vehicles. The owner the PP 100 the lower is the occurrence of problems in that particular model.
As per the report released by this body, it has been seen that Indian buyers tend to go for vehicles which have fewer initial quality issues.
